3rd Place Pro Life Essay Winner
Author: Melissa Pfeifer
Last
Wednesday our sixth grade class got a special visit from Lester
Robben, pro-life chairman for the Knights of Columbus, and his
wife Donetta. The top 10 essay writers anxiously waited in their
seats for them to announce the winners of this years pro-life
essay contest.
Mrs. Dinkel has been doing this contest for
several years. She has all of her students write about either
abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, or stem cell research,
all of which are pro-life issues. Although all of the students’
essays get the point across that these things are absolutely
horrible, she picks the top 10 and sends them to Lester and
Donetta Robben.
This year Melissa Pfeifer took third place
with her essay titled, “The Death Penalty.” She mentioned how
two wrongs never make a right and the death penalty is not the
just punishment.
John Drees won second place. His story was
titled, “Abortion, Killing Without Justification.” He stated in
his essay how abortion is killing human beings that could’ve
contributed to society and how God is the only one who has power
over life.”
The winner of the pro-life essay contest
was Laura Krug. Her story was titled, “Abortion Really Does
Kill.” Her main point was that abortion shouldn’t be used for a
cover up in any situation. She strongly ended by challenging
people to stand up to abortion.
These winners were awarded for this
accomplishment by being given a beautiful and unique abortion
rosary. They also get to read their essays at the Knights of
Columbus Christmas Party.
