Title: A Day with the Firemen
Author: Amadee Staab
The Ellis County Rural Fire department came to
visit Holy Family kindergarten on Thursday, November 5.
Classes went outside to see the equipment that firefighters use
to put out fires, as well as see what a fireman in uniform looks
like. This helps children to know that a fireman is there
to help them, even though they may look and sound scary.
Students were able to try on the fire helmets to feel how heavy
and hot the safety equipment can be. Students sat in the
driver’s seat of the fire truck. Students’ favorite
experience was getting to spray water out of the hose.
KA, KB, and KC wish to thank Rural Fire
Director Dick Klaus, Company 5 Chief Dale Befort and the
firefighters, Matt S. and Chad Z., for taking the time out of
their schedules to educate our students about fire safety.
The students wish to thank the firemen for the helmets and the
activity booklets that they received.
