2010 State Fair
Authors: Madyson Koerner and Carmen Brull

Sixth grade students had a blast on their first field trip of the year to the Kansas Sate Fair in Hutchinson. Sixth grade students had to arrive at school at 7:00 A.M. to leave for Hutchinson. Although it was a two and a half hour drive, the trip went faster because we had friends in the car and fun things to do.

When we got there, we paid our admission fee and went straight to the exhibits. Some exhibits had pigs, sheep, rabbits, chickens, and cow. Others featured grains, fruits, and vegetables. As we were walking along, we came across The Electronic Room. We decided to go in and play some games. The games included Super Mario Brothers, Wii, Guitar Hero, and many, many more. After seeing many more exhibits, we all started to get hungry, so we headed to the brick building to eat. We talked about all that we’d seen that morning.

Finally, we were ready to get on the rides. There were many rides. One was called the Dragon. It went back and forth which gave your stomach butterflies.  Another ride was the White Water. You went on little log boats up a slope and then plunged down where you got drenched in water. Freak Out was another scary, yet exciting ride. It went up sideways, back and forth in the air while you were sitting in a circle surrounded by other people’s screams.

When the exciting day was over, we were exhausted, drenched in sweat, and ready to go home. As we started walking back to our cars, we sadly knew in our hearts that this memorable day would never come again.
