STEWARDSHIP

The Catholic faith recognizes that we are not the owners of our lives but rather stewards of the life we’ve been given by God. Everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God. It is our job, as stewards, to receive those gifts with gratitude, nurture them, and then return them with increase back to the Lord. God’s love for us is visible in his son, Jesus Christ, and as stewards, we are called to make it visible in our own lives by imitating Christ. In the sharing of our gifts, we express gratitude to God for those blessings.

Why is stewardship important to Holy Family Elementary?

Holy Family Elementary is rare in that we do not rely on tuition to support us. We are funded by the seven Heartland Parishes of Ellis County and supplemented by school fees & fundraisers. While, financially, we receive a good amount of funding from these entities, unfortunately, it is not enough to cover our every need. We rely on the stewardship of our Catholic school families to support our operating budget, our day-to-day functions, and the activities & events we host.

Our call to stewardship is an invitation to discern where and how the Holy Spirit is calling us to serve. Time, talent, and treasure are gifts from God, and he does not want us to keep them for ourselves. He asks us to bless others with them to build His kingdom. We ask that you bless us with your gifts to help us build the ministry of Catholic Education.

What does stewardship look like for my family?

For Catholic school families, the church suggests that 8% of your annual income go to the church, 1% to the diocese, and 1% to charities of your choice. You are also asked to give one hour of prayer and at least two hours of your time and talent a week.

To be admitted and to enroll your child at HFE, you must be 'in good standing' with the school, your parish, and be approved by the pastor. 'In good standing' means that you have a history of active participation in the way of stewardship, whether it be in the area of time, talent, or treasure.

Your commitment to stewardship, for both parish and school, is renewed at the beginning of every calendar year for the following school year.

What are some ways I can participate in stewardship at the school level?

Pray to the Holy Family...

Jesus, Son of God and Son of Mary, bless our family. Graciously inspire in us the unity, peace, and mutual love that you found in your own family in the little town of Nazareth.

Mary, Mother of Jesus and Our Mother, nourish our family with your faith and your love. Keep us close to your Son, Jesus, in all our sorrows and joys.

Joseph, Foster-father to Jesus, guardian, and spouse of Mary, keep our family safe from harm. Help us in all times of discouragement or anxiety.

Holy Family of Nazareth, make our family one with you. Help us to be instruments of peace. Grant that love, strengthened by grace, may prove mightier than all the weaknesses and trials through which our families sometimes pass. May we always have God at the center of our hearts and homes until we are all one family, happy and at peace in our true home with you. Amen.
