FIRST FRIDAY PRAYER CIRCLES

What are First Friday Prayer Circles?
They are both a group and an activity!
Our students are divided into ‘family’ groups that consist of children from grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Our fifth-grade students lead these family groups of five to six children. The fifth-grade students are trained to lead every year, while our kindergarten students join a group. These groups stay together from year to year, as the students move up in grade. These groups create ‘families’ amongst our students.
On the first Friday of each month, we have Prayer Circles. During Prayer Circles, the ‘families’ meet to learn about each other, do a craft together, and pray.
These groups and this activity are designed to expand the students’ knowledge of their faith. It creates opportunities for them to interact with children of all ages, to have ‘buddies’ who are not in their class. It creates opportunities for them to work together, finding that each student has a job to do within the crafts. It creates opportunities for them to share their faith through prayer and adoration.
