TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS

CMG Connect: Safe Environment Curriculum

The Catholic Diocese of Salina uses CMGConnect, a safe environment online training program developed by Catholic Mutual Group (CMG). The purpose of the Safe Environment Curriculum is to educate adults on how to interact with and protect students, children, and/or young people as it pertains to sexual abuse. Therefore, those who have regular contact with our students, children, and/or young people are required to complete the Safe Environment Curriculum.

The curriculum consists of three vignette-style videos, review questions for each video, information on ministering to vulnerable adults, a review of The Policy for the Protection of Children & Young People, and the Code of Conduct, as well as an integrated background check through Selection.com. The curriculum is 75 minutes long and must be completed in one sitting.

The curriculum lasts 5 years and must be renewed before its expiration date. A notification will be sent when it's time to renew. Volunteers who become certified through this curriculum are required to review The Policy for the Protection of Children & Young People and the Code of Conduct yearly and acknowledge their continued commitment to our students, children, and/or young people.

Any parent/guardian, grandparent, or other individual planning to volunteer within our school is required to complete the Safe Environment Curriculum before they are allowed to minister. Volunteering in our school consists of, but is not limited to, the following: Lead parents, classroom helpers, lunch servers, and field trip drivers. Additional training is required for field trip drivers. See the ‘Driving for Field Trips’ tab for more information.

TMP-M Jr./Sr. High School also requires this training. This curriculum transfers and qualifies if you did the training with us, and vice versa.
