Mrs. Steigerwald

Steigerwald to Join Holy Family Elementary Faculty

[Hays, KS, July 20, 2021]  Holy Family Elementary is pleased to welcome Lindsey Steigerwald to Holy Family Elementary faculty beginning with the 2021-22 academic year.

Upon earning her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University, Steigerwald has taught in schools in Bryan and College Station, Tex. Her depth of experience includes elementary education in teaching Kindergarten, Pre-K, ESL, and special education.

Steigerwald will step in for Mrs. Janel Ruder who announced her retirement from Holy Family at the completion of the 2020-21 school year. Holy Family Elementary is transitioning the Library, Computer, and Art specials courses to a STREAM block format in which instruction and lessons will include Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art and Math.

“The collaboration of Mrs. Steigerwald’s background in Curriculum and Instruction, Mrs. Brown’s experience in STEM, and Mrs. Flax’s knowledge of technology will expand learning experiences beyond the traditional Specials class disciplines to challenge students to think critically and creatively, problem solve and invent,” said Principal Rachel Wentling.

“I am so excited to join HFE! I love being Catholic and have a desire to grow in my faith. My teaching philosophy is focused on providing a safe and positive learning environment for students while delivering high-quality education. I love building meaningful relationships with my students, parents, and coworkers. I have a heart to learn and drive to always grow professionally and personally. I feel this can be done by being flexible, quick to problem solve, and open to the knowledge of others,” said Steigerwald.

“Ms. Steigerwald’s kindness and enthusiasm immediately caught my attention when I first spoke with her by phone,” continued Wentling. “Lindsey’s love for her faith and students combined with a passion for being a life-long learner further indicated that she is the right fit for this position and the plan to further develop the STREAM block at HFE,” added Wentling.

Ms. Steigerwald will be primarily responsible for the Art portion of the STREAM lessons and will have a prominent supporting role in the HFE preschool classroom.

Steigerwald grew up in Houston, Tex. and is relocating to Hays with her husband, Phillip who has accepted a position with Fort Hays State University.

“Being a Texan most of my life, I am excited for this new adventure of moving to Kansas and seeing what God has in store for our family,” added Steigerwald.
