The fourth grade Computer classes have been busy working on their November STEM project, “Balloons Over Broadway”. We began by listening to the book “Balloons Over Broadway” which tells the true story of Tony Sarg. Sarg was a European puppeteer who came to New York and created displays for the windows at Macy’s. He later was asked to use his puppets in a Christmas parade. Fearing people wouldn’t be able to see his highly animated puppets, he worked to develop ones that could be elevated and controlled from underneath. This concept is still used today. We then learned about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. We also investigated how helium works. The students then partnered up to research an idea for their balloon. After deciding on their balloon theme they designed a sketch and developed a budget detailing everything they would need to create their design. The last step involved creating their balloon masterpieces. Just in time for the annual parade!

Cajetan Cash Update!!! We've had such an overwhelming amount of ticket sales for our Cajetan Cash Fundraiser that we have decided to move the drawing to next Friday, October 15th to allow for plenty of days for the committee chairs to process all sales and get all tickets emailed/mailed out to all purchasers. The sales are going very well and the committee definitely could use a few extra days to get everything recorded and distributed to all ticket buyers! Thank you for your contributions to this fundraiser, and we look forward to the BIG drawings at 3:00 p.m. LIVE on our school Facebook page next Friday, October 15th.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another, as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called into one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:12-15 The 5th and 6th graders have been working hard in their religion studies to choose a virtue for themselves to work on this year. They were asked to reflect on Colossians 3:12-15 and from that verse, choose a word that speaks to them from it. They were asked how the word or words that spoke to them can guide them in developing themselves and helping others around them. Once the students choose a word, they colored a flower and wrote their word on it. Take a look at their “Love Grows Here” garden! Isn’t it beautiful? So much good work being done by these students. Can’t wait to see where these virtues take them this year!
